presented by The Villages Musical Theater
Winning a record twelve Tony Awards, Mel Brooks’ musical, The Producers, sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face humor. The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer (Tim Casey) and his mild mannered accountant (Bob Stehman) come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all “little old ladies”) out of millions of dollars. What could possibly go wrong? Too many “wrongs” make a “right” and the show is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom create a laugh out loud musical farce as they fecklessly maneuver their way through finding the worst show ever written (the gloriously offensive “Springtime for Hitler”), hiring the worst director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds. You will laugh until you cry!
