The members of The Villages Musical Theater are back on October 12th with a review featuring the last 10 years of VMT shows. The show will include songs from shows like ‘Chicago’, ‘Hello Dolly’, ‘Carousel’, ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, ‘Brigadoon’, ‘The Music Man’, ‘Crazy For You’, ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘South Pacific’ and six other great Broadway Hits. This 90 minute review is a must see musical event. We bring a cast of your favorite Villages performers, including Billie Thatcher, John Rogerson, Carolyn Hoffman, Bob Stehman, Bob Brandoni, Sue Schuler, Sally Spieth, Tim Casey, Dave and Dellie Saxe, and others. Only one show will be presented at 6:30pm on October 12th at La Hacienda Rec. Center. Don’t miss this wonderful trip down ‘memory lane’. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Sozo Kids.
The Village Voices Chorus, conducted by Dr. John T. Lowe Jr. and accompanied by Sean Pollock presents a magical menagerie of music. Presented by The Villages Theater Company A hilarious comedy by Nancy Frick Directed by Tony Oteri Sandy, the four-times-married-three-times-divorced owner of a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, has certainly seen her fair share of matrimonies! In the hilarious Four Weddings and an Elvis, we witness four of her funniest: Bev and Stan, who are getting married by the KING himself as revenge on their exes; Vanessa and Bryce, two arrogant aging stars who are tying the knot as a publicity ploy, and are vexed by an aging Elvis who doesn't know who they are; and Martin and Fiona, a gentle postal-worker and tough ex-con trying to get married before the police arrive. However, the final wedding is the funniest of all: Sandy's fifth and final wedding which reveals a hilarious twist!! Laughter abounds throughout the play and will exceed your expectations for a fun evening!
The Pops Chorus Folksingers are back for another fun-filled Hootenanny to benefit Tutors for Kids Inc. and All One Family Inc. The Pops Chorus Folksingers, Pops Chorus members who have performed folk songs at many of the Pops Chorus concerts, perform the great folk songs made famous by Peter Paul and Mary, The Kingston Trio, New Christy Minstrels, The Brothers Four, John Denver, and many other musicians of the times. Audiences find themselves singing along, clapping to the rousing upbeat music, and reflecting on the beautiful ballads of this special musical era. “Give a Hoot 6” includes a number of classic folk songs not performed in past “Hoots”, including “Rocky Mountain High”, “Freight Train”, and “The Sounds of Silence”, as well as audience favorites “Puff the Magic Dragon”, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”, and “Today”. And of course, a lot of surprises and fun! Joining the group will be professional folk singers Playnfoke.
Round up your posse and come on down to the Honky Tonk Cabaret The red-hot night of fun will include great toe-tapping country music sung by accomplished Villages singers, twenty-five beautifully costumed rootin’ tootin' tap and jazz dancers, and rip-roarin’ laugh-out-loud comedy. You will meet the flirty waitress, Roxy, who’s a little rough around the edges, Big Bubba the Bouncer, and a smooth and handsome bartender who keeps the whole show rolling. Honky Tonk Cabaret was written and is directed by Barbara Hanberry and Charlie Snyder, and is choreographed by Shirley Keith with the help of Dance Coach Janet DeOrnellas. Profits from Off Broadway Players’ shows are always given to local charities such as food pantries, schools and veterans’ groups.
Broadway’s Alex Santoriello and Clark Barrios team up with Jerry Bruno’s band, “Out of L.A.”, for a night of non-stop singing & adult entertainment that’s guaranteed to shatter the local norms (think Vegas Baby!) See Alex and Clark as you’ve never seen them before. “Shaken Not Stirred” is a party, it’s a hoot and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Villages’ Honor Flight. This show is presented by Pro-Am Performing Arts with theatre seating and a cash bar, so please DON’T bring your own booze or Alex will get into trouble…again!
