A Jersey Shore Tribute Band Like No Other.
The core members of PROMISED LAND – Kenny, Mike have been playing music together since they were just 13 years old. The first time they played at the Jersey Shore was in the summer of 1990 at world-famous The Stone Pony where they opened for E. Street Band member Nils Lofgren. Let’s just say that ever since that show the Jersey Shore was permanently injected into their blood and they have been a fixture on the Jersey Shore music scene ever since. Headlining rooms like The Tradewinds, The Wonder Bar, The Stone Pony, Headliners, The Green Room, Club Bene, The Saint, The Rocking Horse, Fast Lane and Birch Hill just to name a few!
Originally as the band ArthurKill, they toured the country putting out three CDs highlighted by the song “Closer to Free,” which hit #1 on College Rock Radio. It was after this time the trio decided to start this Ultimate Jersey Shore Tribute Band – PROMISED LAND.
It was with the idea to bring the music they loved growing up with the same energy and flare that the Jersey Shore bands delivered for them. Kenny says, “Springsteen and South Side Johnny shined the light on rock music for us. The shows Bruce put on, the way he entertains and sings with emotion. The power of the E. Street Band. The sound of the horns in South Side’s music, there was nothing else like it. Then Lil’ Steven came out with three great records in the ’80s and we were hooked!! This music was and still is the soundtrack of our lives.”
So, they put together a band to deliver that same emotion night after night – a 10-piece band with a full horn section (The ArthurKill Horns) that performs all the classic Springsteen, South Side Johnny, Lil’ Steven and even some Bon Jovi songs that turn summer nights into summer dreams!! PROMISED LAND has the same power and emotion that a Bruce show delivers with a band that can seamlessly weave from E. Street Band to The Asbury Jukes, to The Disciples of Soul all in one set.
The band consists of Lauren Petillo backing vocals, Toni Nostro on piano, Michael Petillo Jr. on keyboards, Dom Patella on bass, Alex Mahoney on saxophone, Brian Miesegaes on trumpet, Shawn Rhodes on trombone, Mike Petillo on guitar, Jeff Wooley on drums and Kenny Munson lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
Promised Land consist of a tight group of family and friends with Mike and his two children Lauren and Michael, all cousins to Kenny. Some of the highlights along the PL journey have been opening for South Side Johnny as well as John Cafferty at the Stone Pony Summer Stage to being reviewed in Backstreets magazine, headlining the SXSW Festival, B.B. Kings in NYC and sharing a stage with Nils Lofgren just to name a few.
PROMISED LAND is a must see for any fan of the great Jersey Shore sound!!!
