A Decade of Soul formed in 2008 and was soon after dubbed “Broadway’s Original Live Motown & ‘70s Soul Show” with a very successful ten plus-year run with over 1600 performances in Times Square New York City at BB Kings Club & Grill on 42nd Street.
The show pays tribute to not just Motown artists, but to all classic soul acts right through the 1970s. – Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Gladys Knight, James Brown, Jackson 5, The Supremes, Al Green, Ike & Tina Turner, Jackie Wilson, Barry White, Donna Summer, and many more are all in the show.
It’s a high energy show with tremendous audience interaction, making it very hard to stay in your seat. When attending A Decade of Soul, you will see people getting up and dancing in the aisles, singing along to each and every legendary platinum hit song, and even see some people shed a tear from the memories it brings back.
The band has performed in concert halls, theaters, hotels, resorts, and casinos. They have graced nostalgic stages like the famous Paramount Theater, the legendary Howard Theater in Washington, DC. and the world-famous Blue Note Jazz Club.
The show has appeared everywhere from San Diego California, to Club Med in the Caribbean, and everywhere in between.
The Tour Band Includes:
Bruce “Big Daddy” Wayne – Lead Vocalist. Bruce has performed with Wilson Pickett’s band The Midnight Movers
Lady Jae Jones – Lead Vocals. Hailing from Augusta Georgia, Lady Jae has devoted her entire musical career studying classic soul and Motown singers. She also leads an Aretha Franklin tribute show, “The Atlantic Years.”
Rob Jack – Bass and Vocals. Rob has been performing live since he was 17 years old, touring with a circus music band. He plays 5 different instruments and is a phenomenal bass player and vocalist. He is the musical director for the band and show.
Abel Avalos – Keyboards. Abel is a music professor, teacher and a wizard on the keyboards playing everything from classical to Motown, from jazz to classic rock and gospel.
Dave Richards – Tenor Sax. David’s list of accomplishments include performing live with everyone from pop star Mariah Carey to jazz greats like Jaco Pastorious and Mike Stern.
Bob “Blue” Scarpulla – Trumpet. From somewhere in the mountains of Vermont, Bob is a Jazz trained musician and is one of the original founding members of the show.
Mike Hayes – Guitar. Mike is a well toured musician and has performed in several long-term residencies at the BB Kings club in Nashville Tennessee, and was featured in a Showtime documentary about his amazing guitar playing skills.
Richie DePaul – Drums. The founding member of the show. He has been a professional drummer for over 40 years and performs in several other tribute show
