DESCRIPTION

The Tribute Artist of the Year honor was awarded to singer, actress, producer, and star of the The Beat Goes On Cher tribute show, Lisa McClowry, at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, recently. She received the award from the Josie Music Awards — the world’s largest international independent artists awards ceremony — for her portrayal of CHER in this theatrical extravaganza celebrating six decades in the life and career of the Goddess of Pop.

One of the iconic divas of the 20th century, CHER parlayed her music stardom into success on movie screens and television. She is a living legend. Having sold 100 million records to date, she is one of the world’s best-selling music artists. Her achievements include a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Cannes Film Festival Award, the Billboard Icon Award, and honors from the Kennedy Center and the Council of Fashion Designers of America. She is the only artist to date to have a number-one single on a Billboard chart in six consecutive decades—from the 1960s to the 2010s.

CHER is, in short, incomparable. And now she is beautifully portrayed in a Broadway-style live stage show called The Beat Goes On by Legends in Concert artist, singer, and actress Lisa McClowry. It’s no surprise that Lisa was named Tribute Artist of the Year. Why? Because she cares about every aspect of playing CHER — and it shows. Nothing is overlooked. “I am proud to portray a woman who empowers other women. Like Cher, who brilliantly played the real lives of strong women in the movies Silkwood and Mask, I am blessed with the opportunity to portray the incomparable CHER—celebrating her life, music, singing voice, movies, fashion, her look, her walk, her talk, and her unique blend of power and vulnerability we all love.”

Lisa’s show incorporates dynamic dialogue, humor, energetic audience participation, eight costume changes, and video projection with stunning visuals and animations. Audiences can expect to hear Cher’s hits spanning from the ’60s to today, including I Got You Babe, Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, I Found Someone, The Way of Love, Dark Lady, If I Could Turn Back Time, selections from ABBA featured on Cher’s Dancing Queen album, Woman’s World, Welcome to Burlesque, Believe, and many more. Performed with a live band or tracks, the show is like having CHER herself strutting her stuff on your stage.

Lisa — who in real life looks nothing like Cher, making her transformation all the more astounding — is a singer and entertainer with over 30 years in the industry. She is a trusted talent with 25 music albums, multiple lead roles in theatrical productions, films, and commercials. Her original music can be heard on the radio today.

The Beat Goes On, starring Lisa as Cher, is the perfect multi-generational Girls’ Night Out event for any venue. As Randy Convoy, SVP/GM of Caesars Entertainment Corporation, said after seeing Lisa as Cher: “A home run! Highly recommended!”
